Forex trading and spread betting

I am now in a position where I am prepared to coach and teach people how to trade Forex as well as trading on the stock market.

Up until now I have stayed away from it simply because I wanted to stick to stocks and shares but I am getting asked continuously about how to trade Forex. It is a very volatile way to trade but as long as you use a careful trading plan and use stop losses at all times you will minimize your risk just as you would with trading stocks. After all, technical analysis is the same no matter what you are trading, the only thing you must do is do your analysis right and plan your trade.

If you are interested in learning how to trade Forex and spread betting then just give me call to discuss how we can adapt a training package specifically to suit your needs.

Work shops now based in Tenerife

I have decided to make the work shops even better and more exclusive by moving the location from England to Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

There are few reasons why I have done this. I ran a test course over in Tenerife in 2010 and decided to restructure the format of the whole course. Instead of doing it in the typical learning environment in the UK in the usual class room style situation, I decided to try it out in a luxury rural hotel spa retreat to see how people liked it. The results have been amazing and I have been asked by so many people to do other courses out there I have decided to do it.

What this means is that the course now changes dramatically and so does the learning experience.  I decided to include the accommodation and food for the three days training and throw in the use of the luxury spa as well to spoil people. Why? because I love to do a ohard days work and then go to the spa and have a sauna and Jaccuzi and swim and basically chill out before going to dinner so I thought, I would give this opportunity to everyone who does the course as well.

The format of the weekend is the following:

Thursday.
12'00 - Check into your hotel room and then chill out in the Spa or take a look round the area
19'00 - Welcome drinks and cocktails to meet up with the other people
20'00 - Dinner in the hotel

Friday - Saturday and Sunday
08'00 - Breakfast
09'00 - Course starts
11,00 - Coffee break
13'00 - Lunch
15'00 - Coffee break
17'30 - End of course (Free time to do what ever you like)
20'00 - Dinner in the hotel

On Saturday night we will go for dinner at one of the local Canarian restaurants to sample their food and wine.

If you want more information about the course details please contact me and i will be more than happy to talk to you about it.

New Trader's Edge video

I have created a short introduction video for the Trader's Edge Boot-camp. Please take a look at it and see for yourself what it's all about !

I am getting ready to deliver the next Trader's Edge boot-camp in Tenerife and am very excited about it. The venue is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been to and is set in the village of Vilaflor which is at the base of mount Teide and is very close to the pine forest. The rooms are out of this world and the surrounding area are awesome.

Take a look at the video and please give me some honest feedback.

Enjoy...

All eyes on the Dow

It seems that everyone you speak to at the moment is going on about a double dip in the economy and it is beginning to wind me up a bit to be quite honest. It seems that up until now the economy was doing quite well again, I mean after all we have seen a massive move from the bulls since the lows of 2009 up until May this year haven't we? OK, so since May this year we have been experiencing a sideways move in the markets and people generally seem to be a bit nervous, hence the sideways move. No one knows which way the market is going to go and there is a lot of indecision.

The thing that bugs me is that the dreaded media seem to influence us so much that what ever they say we seem to take for granted but if we were to start looking at things on our own in a cold and logical manor we may well just see thing sin a different light.

So the facts are, yes we did have a massive bear market from 2007 to the beginning of 2009 and let's face it if you didn't know how to sell short, you may have had a torrid time. The same would go for people who did not have their stop losses in place and have seen all their profits dwindle away at the speed of light. But lets take a look at what we are seeing in the markets at the moment and decide for our selves what we are going to do.

If you take a look at what the Dow Jones 30 is doing right now, you will see that it has been moving in a sideways channel since the beginning of the year. There were lots of talk about it forming a dreaded head and shoulders and that we should all be aware. I even posted an article about it to make people aware of what "might" happen if the head and shoulders formed properly. But as you can see, the head and shoulders did not form and we now have a sideways channel with another peak just been formed.

The interesting thing about this last move up is that it has now moved slightly above a resistance line I had drawn a few months back which to me is a positive sign. Why? because like me, many other traders will probably have plotted a very similar line as well and once a line like this has been broken it can sometimes be a sign that the masses are beginning to change their view about what the market will do. After all, the markets are just a reading of the general mass psychology of traders isn't it?

For those of you who have been to one of my trading boot-camps you will know that I love to use the MACD histogram and what I noticed about the last downward movement was that the bears showed a weaker reading on the charts which may well again be a positive sign.

So my point is that you can take notice of what everyone in the media is saying or you can study what you are seeing yourself on the charts and make up your own mind what is happening. Personally, what I am seeing is that there is plenty of indecision but it is certainly not the dooms day people are talking about. Maybe if we did our own technical analysis properly and made our own decisions we will do a lot better than the press are making out. It is always necesarry to use your risk management rules when trading so that if you are wrong you don't get hurt by the markets.

As always, I welcome any feedback and comments so please email me with your thoughts on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or check out the rest of the web site and hopefully you will want to down load my free e-book on trading.

So until next time...

Happy trading

What do you want ?

So what do you really want out of life and how do you get it?

I am always surprised at the amount of people I come across that when asked the simple question "So what do you want?" they have absolutely no idea at all. They usually come out with a very abstract answer like "I just want to be happy" or " I want to make more money" Unfortunately, this type of answer is not good enough to drive you to your success so I thought I would write a few lines about how you get what what you want because it is very simple. The sad thing is that most people are very dissatisfied with their lives but don't actually know how to do anything about it.

There are a few simple steps to help you get more out of life.

1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

This might sound very simple but have you ever actually sat down and worked out exactly what it is you want? When was the last time you took time out for you to decide what you want to do with your future? I suggest that you stop doing it just before mid night on New Years eve and do it now. Get a pen and paper and go somewhere quiet and start to scribble down all the things that you want to achieve in your life. Don't limit your self to the things you want either, this is time for you to dream and write down all the things you have always dreamed of doing.

Now take a moment to put them in to categories of A, B and C with A being the most important ones for you, B being the second most important ones and C being the least important ones. Look at the ones you have labeled as A's and take the one that is most important to you. We will work with this one for now.

2. WHY DO YOU WANT IT

If you don't know why you want something you will not go very far. You must write down all the reasons why you want this thing, and again don't hold back. Write down the real reasons why you must achieve it. You will find that once you have discovered the real why, the how will be easy to find.

3. CREATE A BURNING DESIRE

It is critical that you turn whatever you want into an absolute burning desire. By this I mean that that you MUST do it no matter what. It should become an absolute obsession and that you think about it every single day until you get what ever it is you want. There are many ways of doing this but let's just start with something called auto suggestion. What I mean by this is you must verbalize out loud what it is you want, but say it like you really mean it with true passion and feelings. You should repeat this over and over at least 3 times a day. Once when you rise, again at lunch time and again before going to bed at night.

You can even get pictures of what it is you want and put them everywhere where you will see it on a daily basis. This will help remind you what you want and keep you focused on it. Spend time each day thinking of it and remember to say out loud what it is you want to achieve. It also helps if you write it down and read it out loud. Something strange happens when you write your goals down and verbalize it. Do this for a minimum of 30 days and see what happens.

4. CREATE A PLAN OF ACTION

This next step is vital in achieving what you want. You must take the time to actually write down how you are going to get what you want. The first time may just be a load of jumbled ideas that don't make much sense but that is OK, the important thing is that you start to write your plan of action down. Keep on scribbling until you have all your ideas down. Once you have done that you can start to put it into some sort of logical order.

"If you are failing to plan, you are planning to fail."

When you are drafting out your clear defined plans it is important that you have a completion date on it. There is no point in just stating that you want to achieve something without putting a date on it. If you fail to do this, it will become a moving target. And be specific with the date and time, don't just say next year... It needs to be something like "It is the 22nd February 2012 and I have achieved...."

5. TAKE ACTION

This is where most people fall down, they don't actually do anything that they have planned to do. There is a great video out there called "The Secret" which I love and highly recommend but it fails to tell you about this so important factor called ACTION. You must take action and do something to move you closer to your goals.

Ask your self a question every day and write it down in your diary. "What am I doing today that will get me closer to my goals?" Don't get caught up in the habit of procrastination. Take action now and do something for you. If your why is big enough you should have no problem in this area. If you find your self not really motivated to take action, you need to take a look at the reason why you want it.

6. CHECK YOUR RESULTS

It is so important that you take stock of the results you are getting on a regular basis, maybe once a month ask your self what you have done, what did you do good, what did you do bad and more important, how can you do it better? Always remember that you are human and you will make mistakes but there is no such thing as failure unless you quit. You will get many results from your actions and some of them may not be the results you wanted or expected. This is why it is important to look at the results you are getting and see how you can do things better in the future. They say that the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over expecting to get a different result. If you keep on getting the wrong result then follow the next step.

7. CHANGE YOUR APPROACH

This is simple, if you are not getting the results you want then change your approach. Do not keep doing the same old things and expect to get a different result.  Thomas Edison knew that he wanted to invent the light bulb and tried over 9,000 times to do it. Some people say that he failed over 9,000 times but he said that he didn't fail, he simply found over 9,000 ways of NOT making a light bulb. Out of these 9,000 experiments he also discovered more interesting things by keeping track of his results.
